The Alberta Arts District is overflowing with local art like murals, paintings, and sculptures. As you walk along NE Alberta Street, you can enjoy art installations as you check out galleries, local jewelers, craft shops, retail stores, boutiques, restaurants, and bars. The Station Pizza Pub at 27th and Alberta is proud to announce we have added an interactive chalkboard!  Our Portland Means sign was hand-painted by artist Justin Riede of Riede Signs.  Justin hails from Siskiyou Country and resides in Portland. You may recognize his talented handiwork from other signs in town (Renata, Tusk, Patton Maryland).

Our sign was inspired by our love of Portland.  A diverse/art-loving/food-loving/green city, we have discovered over the years that Portland means many things to its residents and visitors.  The Portland Means sign is interactive for all ages, and we invite you to stop by for a pizza or a pint and be sure to write what Portland means to you on our art piece! Use #PDXMeans to have your unique contribution featured on our Facebook and Instagram pages.  And yes, selfies are welcome!

Did you know that the Alberta Arts District evolved when residents and businesses came together to change the run down, dangerous place it had become due to an over abundance of drugs and crime? The Streetscape Project was adopted in 2000 as a way to transform the neighborhood. Murals and public art were added to the district, changing it for the better! Art abounded in the summer with the implementation of Last Thursday, and continues today.  Last Thursday is a summer street closure event with street performance, art vendors and businesses committed to showcasing art and bringing the neighborhood together! The Portland Means sign is just the latest and greatest installation in a long line of incredible Alberta Arts District art and we look forward to seeing you there!

Let us know what Portland means to you when you join us at the bar top or on our award-winning, dog friendly patio.  And save the date to meet us on Last Thursdays on Alberta Street (see www.lastthursdaysonalbertastreet.com) and at the Alberta Street Fair on Saturday August 11th. Whether Portland means good beer, great food, amazing distilleries, the best parks, perfect hikes, remarkable coffee, great friends, rain, flannel and mustaches, local farms, or  [fill in the blank]…we all can revel in the fact that this city means so much to so many!
